What Is Expected of Me?
One of the most important elements of the YMCA NC MSUN program is the Advisor. Thank you for taking the time and energy to devote to your students! Remember, that your role as an advisor will make a difference in the lives of young people in our communities.
To function effectively in the YMCA NC MSUN program, each advisor should plan to attend:
As many delegation meetings as possible
Advisor training webinars in November
Advisor meeting/conference webinar in April
The YMCA NC MSUN Conference in May
In order to make sure you understand the YMCA NC MSUN program guidelines, please print the manual or Green Book. Don't hesitate to contact the state office for any questions about getting your delegation started.
Your students or delegates will participate in the YMCA NC MSUN conference as either members of the General Assembly (GA), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) or the Security Council (SC). Please refer to the Member States Form to see which countries are represented at this year's conference and how many students per country are required. If your country has a seat on the ECOSOC or SC, that will be listed on the Country Assignment Form.
All countries must write a background paper to bring to the YMCA NC MSUN conference in May. A detailed outline for the background paper is found in the Green Book. Students in all organs must also write position papers and the topics for those are found on the Delegate Assignment Form. These topics will change from year to year. Position paper guidelines are also found in the Green Book. All position papers are due to the State Office in early April with conference registration materials.
At the YMCA NC MSUN conference, all students will work together in their UN organ to produce resolutions with the other countries represented. A sample resolution can be found in the Green Book.
We will all become familiar with the program format as it grows. We need your help to make this a successful experience for all participants!
