Candidate Application Update 

This year we are limiting the number of candidates that can run for office within our Legislative program. Delegations with multiple students interested in a position are encouraged to host elections within their club prior to pre-conference. 

  • Delegations with less than 50 total members
    • One associate officer candidate per position
    • One executive officer candidate per position
  • ​Delegations with 50 or more total members 
    • Two associate officer candidates per position 
    • One executive officer candidate per position 

Judicial officer positions will operate as it has in the past. There will be no limit to the number of candidates from any single club.

Appointed Official

  • Clerks, Messengers, Sgt. at Arms, and Chaplains require no conference experience at time of appointment
  • Floor Leaders and Committee Chairs require one year of conference experience at time of appointment
  • Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, State Treasurer,  additional media and judicial leadership, are appointed at the end of the conference. No additional conference experience is required

Appointed Positions Application 

Elected Official

  • Speaker of the Forum, Speaker Pro Tem require no experience prior to campaigning/ election 
  • Presiding Officers and Associate Justices require one year of Conference experience prior to campaigning/ election  
  • Governor and Chief Justice candidates must be Juniors in High School at the time of campaign/election with one year of prior Conference experience
  • Lt. Governor candidates must be Juniors in High School at the time of campaign/election with one year of prior conference experience and must serve as committee chairs at this year’s conference
  • Speaker of the House candidates must be Sophomores in High School at the time of campaign/election with one year of prior conference experience and must serve as committee chairs at this year’s conference
  • Media Editor, State Treasurer, and Attorney General must be a Sophomores in High School at the time of campaign/election with one year of prior conference experience in program area
